Title Checks

The Butler Police Department provides vehicle title checks. Vehicles within the city limits may be checked at there location. Vehicles outside the city limits must either be brought to the Butler Police Department or you may contact the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department. There is a $5.00 charge for this service.

 Handgun Permits

A resident of the City of Butler may pick up an application at the Police Department. Once you complete and turn in the application the following steps will be taken.

 Hunting and target permits are also offered for either four (4) years or lifetime. The fee for a four (4) year permit is $10.00 (local) and $5.00 (state fee).

 Inquire at the Butler Police Department regarding the fees for either lifetime permits.

Accident and/or incident report(s)

That occurred with in the City of Butler may be requested at the Butler Police Department for a fee of $5.00 for each report. If the accident or incident is still under investigation or waiting on prosecution the NO copies will be released without a court order

 Background Check

 A fee of $5.00 is charged for this service. (Excluding background check relating to handgun permit).

 Notary service is available

No personal checks will be accepted for any fees due to the Butler Police Department.

 Bank Escorts

 The Butler Police Department provides escorts for businesses that need to make deposits to the bank. We highly recommend this service to all businesses. This service is available 24 hours a day.

 Risk assessments/security survey’s

 The Butler Police Department can perform a security survey of your home or business making recommendations for improvements in security. We also do risk assessments based on the Homeland Security Risk Assessment Model. Chief Nichols is a Homeland Security Task Force Member.
